Not Being a Christian is a Waste of a Life

Not being a Christian is a waste of a life.

We're all mortal beings.

We're in a mortal body that will one day fail us and perish.

Nothing is really going to matter 100 years from now.

If you're not a Christian, what are you living for?

Are you living for money? Are you living for your career? Are you living for your business?

None of that is going to matter.

You can't take anything with you after you die. You can't take money with you. You can't take your college degrees. You can't take your business with you.

1 Timothy 6:7, NIV, "For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it."

There, the bible says it. When we were born, we brought nothing into this world. We had nothing. When we leave, we'll be able to take nothing with us.

Everything we labor and toil for in this life is in vain.

The only thing that matters is getting our souls right for judgment and for the next life.

Hebrews 9:27-28, NIV, "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."

We're all destined to die and then after that, we'll face judgment.

Why did God put us here on earth?

Romans 8:29, NIV, "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."

God put us here on earth to become like Christ.

We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God either through lying, stealing, hating others, jealousy, bitterness, etc. We all have done evil things at some point in our lives. We have all been in some type of sin at some point in our lives, whether it is hating others, sexual immorality, lying. We all struggle with some sins.

James 3:2 "We all stumble in many ways."

The problem with this is that no sin can enter heaven. Hatred is not going to go to heaven. There's going to be no hatred in heaven.

1 John 3:15, NIV, "Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him."

So we know, based on the Scripture, that hatred is murder, and no murderer has eternal life. So things like hatred is not going to heaven.

The point I'm trying to make is as Christians, we have to train ourselves in righteousness in order to go to heaven.

2 Timothy 3:16, NIV,  "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness"

We need to train to be righteous, so that we can get to heaven.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

We need to train to not engage in these things and live according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh.

Revelation 21:27 "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."

So you can see that people practice a certain sin and certain lifestyle will not be able to enter heaven. Only those who live uprightly and purely will enter heaven.

So why has God given this life? What are we to live for?

This is training ground for heaven.

God has put us on this earth to train to be like Jesus, the sinless lamb of God.

If we get baptized and live according to the Spirit and not the flesh, Jesus's blood keeps us pure and cleanses of all our sin and unrighteousness.

This is the point of life. This is why God has breathed into life.

After we die, we can't take our money we earned during this short earthly life and we can't take our degrees or any physical or earthly possessions. The only thing we take with us is our souls and our treasures in heaven.

Matthew 6:19-21 "19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."

So God tells us to not store up earthly treasure- money, savings accounts, 401Ks- but to store up our treasure in heaven, which is eternal and where moths and vermin do not destroy and where thieves cannot break in and steal.

The Christian life is the only life that makes sense and that's worth living.

Storing up wealth is worthless. We brought nothing into this world and we cannot take anything out. You can't buy your way to heaven. The only way to get to heaven is by becoming a disciple of Christ and carrying your cross daily. Only saints will go to heaven. Nothing impure will ever enter it.

Don't waste your life. Follow God. Follow Jesus. After you die, nothing you've done on this earth will have mattered other than following God.

Living life as a nonChristian is a waste.

Living life as a Christian, as a disciple of Christ, is the only way to live a live that isn't in vain.

Follow Jesus.

Matthew 16:25 "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it."

Don't waste (or lose) your life. Save it eternally with Jesus and enter the Kingdom of Heaven for eternity.
